He was born in Catarroja (Valencia, Spain) in a family with musical tradition. His father is the
composer Salvador Chuliá, who teaches him sol-fa and harmony in a musical and familiar
atmosphere. He studies trumpet performance with Vicente López, Guy Touvron and Eric Aubier. He
reaches his studies with the maestro Maurice André. Maurice André wrote about him: “Ernesto is a
real artist, and he masters the trumpet technic perfectly”.
He is required to impart courses in Spain, France, Estonia, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, et cetera.
In his pedagogical work, he is the author from works like “Método-CD para Agrupación de
trompetas” (“Method-CD for Trumpet ensemble”) and “Vademécum del trompetista” (“Vademecum
of the trumpeter”).
He has completed two different works from RTVE (Spanish public radio and TV) about
pedagogical releasing of the trumpet and his performance. From 1996 to 2013, he is the soloist
flugelhorn from Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid. Nowadays, he is trumpet teacher in
municipal conservatory “José Iturbi” of Valencia, and also he won the public competition from
trumpet teacher’s position in Tarragona conservatory and Balearic Islands upper-conservatory.
He won prices in contests like Manresa, Benidorm, Tarrasa & Pozoblanco (Spain), Albertville,
Nancy, RTF Français (France), “Internationale–Blechblasë–Tager”, Möers, (Germany)…
His contribution with different composers has increased the trumpet and flugelhorn repertory. He
has premiered and registered some of that works in CDs, such as ‘Encuentro entre dos estirpes’
(‘meeting between two lineages’), ‘La trompeta en las aulas del conservatorio’ (‘The trumpet in
conservatory’s classrooms), ‘Fantasía para fliscorno’ (‘Fantasia for the Flugelhorn’), ‘Un siglo de
bien’ (‘A good century’), ‘Festival para trompeta’ (‘Festival for the trumpet’), ‘Si suoni la tromba’, et
cetera.
He is performing concerts, as a soloist, in different countries: Spain, France, Estonia, Mexico,
Colombia and Argentina. At the present time, he is teacher in Valencia conservatory and in
‘Trumpetland school’.
